The oldest and almost the only, and certainly the most important periodical in Poland totally devoted to the social and economic history of Poland and the world. Established by Franciszek Bujak and Jan Rutkowski. Published uninterruptedly (with the exception of the Second World War and certain delays in later periods) since 1931, boasts over 70 volumes. Founded in Lwów, where it appeared until 1938, then in Poznań and from vol. 56/57 (1996/1997) – in Warsaw. Throughout the whole post-war period the publisher has been the Poznań Society of Friends of Sciences, from 2004 co-editor with the Institute of History at the Polish Academy of Sciences. The editorial committees were composed of outstanding Polish researchers.
